Proclamation by the Texas Banking Commissioner

In response to the Governor’s declaration of June 28, 2010, that Tropical Storm Alex poses a threat of imminent disaster along the Texas Coast in the counties of Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Cameron, Duval, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Starr, Webb, Willacy, and Zapata and pursuant to Section 37.003 of the Texas Finance Code, I find that an emergency is impending in the above areas of the state.

Accordingly, I, Charles G. Cooper, Banking Commissioner of Texas, do hereby issue this proclamation authorizing banks located in the affected area, at their discretion, to close offices that may be affected by the storm until appropriate human resources, facilities, utilities and security can be restored to safely serve the financial service needs of the affected communities.
